Rare Old German Halloween Small Composition "Black Cat on Chimney Top" Candy Container, 3" tall and 1 3/4" wide. Circa 1920. The cat is glued to a circle that lifts out of the top of the chimney. The cat has a spring tail which has many small coils. The paper mache candy holder is in very nice, but not perfect, condition, as there are a couple of surface cracks in the red cardboard top. The most unusual thing about this item is the handwritten "love note" on a blank white space on the side of the chimney, written with an old fountain pen. Inside the removable upper portion of the candy holder with the black cat on it, the word "Germany" is stamped quite clearly. This is the only example of this candy holder that I've ever seen. It is extra-cute, nostalgic, and romantic with the little cat's "love note!"
