Very Old 19th Century Painted Child's Sled, Mustard Yellow w/ Cast Iron Runners

   Beautiful early antique sled with cast iron runners and underbody, and hand-painted surface. It is circa 1800 - 1850, probably made in the Northeast (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania area.) The mustard color is very desirable. The paint is in amazingly good condition with only a little wear. 

    The sled is 32" long, 9 3/4" wide (for the board portion, and 1/2" thick), and 6 1/2" tall from the ground when flat. There are two very minor splits in the wood near the front end where the wood is joined from underneath to the cast iron bracing.  Most sleds from this period would not even compare to this quality. This sled would look fantastic as a wall display.
